In an interview with Many people, the tv personality went into detail about her future on “The View.” Behar is the show’s longest-serving co-host and has appeared in nearly every season since its inception in 1997. She’s also seen the likes of founding hosts Barbara Walters, Meredith Vieira, and Star Jones all depart at some point.
According to the publication, the 80-year-old shared that she has no plans to stop her TV time anytime soon following her birthday milestone.
“I just signed a contract, so I’ll be here for a while,” the comedian said Many people in an interview that aired on Friday. “I have no plans to retire.”
Behar’s statement refers to her signing a new three-year contract in July that keeps her on the network until 2025. She currently hosts a daytime show with a host of other talented TV personalities, including Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Anna Navarro, Griffin, and Whoopi Goldberg.

Elsewhere in the interview, Behar praised the daytime show, talking about its importance in the lives of its viewers. He also touched on how the show’s ratings have increased exponentially over time and reached the rank of the most watched show on daytime tv.
“It’s really, you know, something that’s an important show in a lot of ways,” he added. “Sometimes I can’t believe it because I’ve been here since the beginning, but we’re the most watched show in daytime. Most viewed!”
Not one to toot his own horn, the veteran host also said he’s happy with the impact he’s made on the show and went on to confirm his decision to stay on for a while.
He added, “I’m happy to be a part of it. So no, I’m not going anywhere. I’m having fun.”

While the amount ABC paid to keep Behar under contract is unknown, it may have exceeded or may have equaled her previous $7 million-a-year contract with the network.
Despite such a large number showing how much the broadcaster valued the veteran, in 2013, Behar was fired from the show and will probably remain in history, although the showrunners had a change of heart, and she was rehired in 2015.
About the reason he was fired, the comedian told Many people he still didn’t know what caused the decision at the time.
We still don’t know why they dumped me,” he said. “They still don’t know why I was fired? That is very stupid for them. But they learned their lesson.”
Behar also shared that she had no doubts about being fired in 2013. “I’m happy to be fired. I was basically sick of the show at that point for some reason, I don’t remember why,” according to the publication.

Eventually, Behar had to leave the show as she grew older. In the meantime, she shared her thoughts on the new kid on the block, Griffin, 33, who joined the show alongside longtime guest panelist Ana Navarro, 50.
“Alyssa has a different personality. So I think it’s going to be smoother, frankly,” Behar said, comparing the 33-year-old to late co-host McCain, per ET. “I mean, I like them both, but I think this girl is going to do really well.”
Behar also talked about the advice she gave Griffin and Navarro about the job. He said, “I’ve been breaking records for a long time because I said this show is a volleyball game, it’s not a golf game.”
“So if you know to hit the ball and then wait for it to come back to you and all that, you’ll be fine,” he added. “That’s the only advice I’ve ever given anyone, really.”
