Judge Joe Brown Threatens To Sue After Rumors Of Connection To Sheryl Lee Ralph Story

Judge Joe Brown is not amused by speculation about his involvement in the Sheryl Lee Ralph assault case!

James Blakeney Brown Jr., a former attorney turned TV personality, is best known for starring in the arbitration-based reality court show, “Judge Joe Brown.” Given his job, the 75-year-old doesn’t run in the same circles as other celebrities.

However, after the shocking revelation of the “Moesha” actress, fans put on their detective shoes to find the suspect in the alleged abuse. Many concluded that the Washington native was guilty, prompting the father of two to respond.

As a former Shelby County Criminal Court judge, the TV personality’s fights don’t extend outside the law. However, based on Ralph’s account of the attack, the 75-year-old has been dragged to the wrong side of the bench.

Instead of letting the internet go wild with allegations about her character, the “Hot Topic With Judge Joe” star aired her grievances about Twitter. Brown’s part of the story comes nearly a week after the Emmy winner opened up about her story of abuse.

“False rumors are being spread that I molested a woman ≈ 25 years ago. I absolutely deny both accusations & acquaintance with the woman,” wrote the former judge.

Standing firm about his innocence, the Washingtonian threatened to file a lawsuit if his name continued to be mentioned in Ralph’s case. “The rumor started with a certain party being identified & spread. They should ‘Cease & Desist’ or consider a Defamation Action,” the father of two warned.

As shared by VIBE, Brown, who is running for mayor of Memphis, announced in a different interview that he is willing to involve his legal team in a defamation lawsuit because the constant speculation is damaging his name.

“When they put my face next to hers, it’s satire. It’s very damaging to my reputation,” the judge-turned-politician claimed. The media personality stated that the accusations were baseless, given her history of fighting for women’s rights.

“Not only do I have a long track record of ensuring women get justice when they do wrong,” continued the former lawyer. “My motto for the past half century has been ‘protecting femininity and promoting masculinity’ and [sic] those who don’t seem to like it.”

The Independent candidate for the 2023 Memphis mayoral race stated that he had never met the “Dreamgirls” star, who he said also did not involve him in his story. In the words of a politician:

“So far, he has not said anything involving me [but] the fact is that I do not know this woman, have never met this woman, certainly do not have any relationship with her.”

If the two weren’t having a relationship, as Brown claims, why did these rumors start? Fans suspected the Washington native was Ralph’s attacker because the pair had ties to the same organization.

CBS’s production company, Big Ticket Entertainment, produced Ralph’s ’90s sitcom “Moesha” and Brown’s eponymous courtroom show. This relationship makes the former TV judge the likely abuser in the Delta Sigma Theta honorary member story.

‘Abbott Elementary Star Forced to Remain Silent Following Abuse

Ralph first shared the revelation that he was assaulted by a “famous TV judge” at a work event during an appearance on the “Way Up With Angela Yee” podcast last week.

According to the Free Spirit Award winner, her attacker forcibly kissed her in front of their peers. “This guy came in, grabbed the back of my neck, turned me around, and rammed his nasty tongue** down my throat, and everybody on the network saw it,” the Connecticut native recalled.

The mother of two explained that she was dressed appropriately for the event and had no relationship with her attacker except for working at the same network. However, the Broadway star refused to reveal the man’s name and when the incident happened.

Despite hiding this important detail, the entertainer insisted that her abuser was not Judge Greg Mathis, whom she described as “a great man.” Surprisingly, being attacked in a room full of people didn’t mean the 66-year-old had any significant witnesses to back up his story.

Ralph claimed that the network prioritized their image over his pain, allegedly pleading with the 66-year-old not to report the incident to avoid “bad press.” Recalling the sad memories, the TV personality said: “They don’t want any bad press around their show and don’t care what just happened to me.”
