“Seinfeld” star Julia Louis-Dreyfus recently shared a heartbreaking experience from her past on the “Wiser Than Me” podcast. The 62-year-old actress spoke candidly about her journey to motherhood and the miscarriage she suffered when she was just 28 after marrying her husband, Brad Hall, in 1987.
During a discussion with guest Ruth Reich, Louis-Dreyfus recalled the moment she found out about her pregnancy. “When I was about 28, I got pregnant for the first time, and I was so happy,” she said. “I got pregnant easily. I feel very lush, very feminine. And then, quite late in the pregnancy, my husband Brad and I discovered that this little fetus was not going to live.
The actor said the experience was “emotionally crushing” and worsened when he later contracted an infection and was hospitalized. “I finally got out of the hospital and went home to recover, but I still haven’t been allowed to get out of bed. I was, as they say, bedridden,” he said.

Recalling the loving moment, she said, “He made this great chili in a cast iron pan with cornbread on top in the pan. She and my husband Brad set up a little card table at the foot of the bed. And the smell of the cornbread and chili was wonderful.”
Although she cannot eat solid food due to her recovery, the smell of food and sweet gestures bring her comfort, and she describes the experience as one of her “greatest memories”. He added, “It doesn’t matter. It was the best meal ever, and I didn’t even eat it. The making is very entertaining and embracing.”
