In Many people In a short preview of the latest episode of Brown’s new show, “Karamo,” he talks about finding out his oldest son Jason had a drug overdose two years ago. The host said, “Today, I’m going to be very vulnerable with you all. It’s something I’ve never talked about publicly.”
The 41-year-old became emotional as he continued, “Almost two years ago, I found my eldest son Jason, lying on the floor, dead from a drug overdose. And I was very scared. I almost lost my son. I don’t know what to do. I was surprised.”
Brown then turned to the camera to speak to his listeners and fans at home. The activist said, “For anyone out there who is going through this, there are people out there who want to help you.”

Brown had previously revealed to parents that embracing the role of his father greatly influenced his struggles with alcohol and drugs. The TV personality said that her children were the main reason why she decided to end her “functional addict” tendencies.
Brown says, “Until I became a father, I asked myself, ‘how would I feel if my son had the same relationship with drugs and alcohol as I did.’ I quit and never looked back.”
She Found Out About Jason When She Was 10 Years Old

During his conversation with parents, Brown revealed that he did not know about Jason until after the boy was ten years old and he received a subpoena for child support from his mother. He said, “My last girlfriend in high school—when I was 15—was pregnant with my child but didn’t tell me.”
The “Queer Eye” star shared that the subpoena left him “confused, sad, angry, and weirdly excited to be a dad” and he felt lost. After learning about Jason, Brown gained full custody of her son, and when she found out about his half-brother Chris, she also gained legal custody of him in 2011.
Karamo Brown On His New Show ‘Karamo’
Brown was recently featured on Many people“Every Day” podcast to talk about his new show “Karamo.” He spoke with host Janine Rubenstein about early conversations to set up the show and said he’s always wanted to “help people.”
Brown says, “Part of me is nosy, so I like being in people’s business. But, when I’m in their business, I want to help them. And that’s what I’ve been doing all my life. On ‘Queer Eye,’ everything.” She shared that she “cried and cried and cried” after learning the show had been picked up and wanted to help “real people [in] real situation” over their barriers.
Regarding her duties on “Queer Eye,” Brown confirmed that she is not backing down from her role on the show. He said, “Each of us has been blessed to do other projects. Yes, my plan was a daily plan, but we got it done. I don’t want to leave those four yahoos for anything.”
