Alan Hamel is reflecting on some of the fondest memories he shared with his late wife, Suzanne Somers.
During a recent interview, the Canadian entertainer revealed that the “Three’s Company” actor will be buried in a pair of Timberland boots directly tied to their “early morning routine” before his death in October 2023.
According to the death certificate obtained by The Blast, Somers’ immediate cause of death was “breast cancer with metastasis to the brain,” with other underlying conditions being hypertension and hydrocephalus.
Alan Hamel & Suzanne Somers Create Sweet Memories Through Adventures
For more than 50 years, Somers and Hamel have lived along the California mountains of Malibu and Palm Springs, allowing them to establish an “early morning routine” involving the former’s famous shoes.
Part of their routine, as the 87-year-old shared, “is always to climb to the top of one of the mountains, where there is a creek and a big flat rock in the middle of the creek.”

He noted that by the time they reached their destination, which took about two hours, “the rock had been warmed by the morning sun.” He added that he and his late wife “would have our lunch on the rock and then take an hour’s nap on the rock and then come back down and go to work.”
With such fond memories, it makes sense that Hamel chose to put Somers to rest with the Timberlands. About that, he recalled:
“Suzanne never really had shoes designed for rock climbing, so I ordered Timberland boots. [I] personalized my gift by using a few words that represented our lives on some level and made it very personal to Suzanne.”
The television host further detailed that the “Step by Step” alum owns “every Manolo Blahnik ever made.” Still, she felt it was “predictable but not too personal” for her to be decked out in them for her final trip.
Additionally, the “Vacation Time” co-host also recalled Somers telling her, “‘I’m putting you on, and my boots are going to keep me safe,'” whenever she wore the Timberlands.
The mother of one died a day before her 77th birthday on October 15. Because of that, family members who initially planned to get together for the birthday celebration chose different ways to commemorate the day, as Hamel revealed to PEOPLE. He recalled the publication:
“We actually toasted last night. We have, I think, 12 of us here, and they’ve all been burning Suzanne. I’m sure we’ll do something today. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but it’s going to involve a lot of cake because Suzanne is crazy about cake.”

Her loved ones gathered again on November 30 to “celebrate Suzanne’s extraordinary life” and her remarkable Hollywood career.
Hamel Will Continue His Late Partner’s Business As Part Of His Hamel Will
Days after his death, Hamel revealed that he and the “Starsky & Hutch” cast had shared a “passionate and beautiful last kiss” and embarked on a final road trip from Illinois to California.
The trip, which traversed Utah and Nevada, filled Somers with excitement as he enjoyed nothing more than experiencing and being at one with nature. The father of two delivered;
“Suzanne and I love seeing middle America and how real Americans live. We were hooked at one point on this TV show called 100 Rodeos, 100 Days because we love seeing how these people go together to the rodeo — it’s family and cowboy hats, and this is the real heart of America.”
She also claimed she had a vision of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” guest star shortly after her death. Recounting the experience, the “Nightcap” actor asserted, “I was alone in bed, half asleep, when I reached out for his hand, and I saw him looking at me. It felt like he was there.”
Ultimately, Hamel was determined to fulfill Somers’ dying wish that he continue to offer organic products to his customers. He said, he wants his customers to receive the best quality products even in his absence.
