Leah McSweeney Says ‘My Intentions Are Really Good’ About Andy Cohen Lawsuit

Leah McSweeney has broken her silence on the lawsuit she recently filed against Bravo and Andy Cohen.

In a podcast interview, the reality television star said she had nothing but “good intentions” to come forward with her truth.

Fans will recall that McSweeney’s truth included allegations that “The Real Housewives of New York” producers fostered a toxic work environment that encouraged alcohol consumption among staff.

McSweeney appeared on Wednesday’s episode of American Addiction Center’s “Addiction Talk,” addressing his ongoing legal battle against Cohen.

The 41-year-old opened the conversation by revealing that he has been “doing great” amid the scandal, keeping his focus on “his program”, attending “meetings” and surrounding himself with “sober friends”.

After reiterating that he’s “in a very good place right now,” McSweeney expressed confidence that things will eventually turn out in his favor despite facing a formidable entity that previously dismissed his claims. In his words:

“Even though it’s hard to stand up to a very powerful entity, and for people to also disagree with me or, you know, come to me and get a kickback and all that stuff, I don’t care, because this is the truth. I have it on my side and my intentions are really good.”

Elsewhere in the interview, the former Bravo star addressed the criticism she’s faced from fans of the Housewives franchise in recent weeks, especially following Cohen’s demand that she retract her “false, offensive” accusations.

Touching on the remarks aimed at her on social media, she explained, “Even when you’re in a really good place, it still hurts. It’s still not a fun experience to have people come up to you or deal with the situation I was in.”

McSweeney went on to state, “It’s a very ingrained thing to push women away when they’re like, ‘This is not a good experience for me.’ I’m not trying to offend people who like to watch this show by saying, ‘This is not a good experience for me.’”

The fashion designer’s publicist previously addressed the backlash, stressing that her client’s sole goal is to find justice for her situation.

As noted above, McSweeney’s lawsuit accuses “RHONY” producers of exploiting his struggles with alcohol for ratings and asserts that Cohen fostered a dysfunctional behind-the-scenes atmosphere at Bravo.

There are also allegations that Cohen engaged “in cocaine use with the Housewives he employed” and that his “propensity for cocaine use with his employees is well-known throughout the Real Housewives franchise” in the filing.

As several Housewives have denied the allegations, McSweeney’s rep clarified by saying:

“Leah never claimed to speak for anyone else. He filed this lawsuit based on his own life experience. The claims in Leah’s lawsuit are about Leah’s experience at Bravo and Leah’s experience alone. He does not try to tell others the truth, but he will not allow anyone to deny his truth.”

Regarding the request for McSweeney to retract his statement, The Blast reports that Cohen’s legal representatives sent the order as a direct rebuttal to the producer’s alleged cocaine use.

“To be clear: these claims are false. Mr. Cohen has never used cocaine with any cast members on any Real Housewives show or with any other Bravo employees. The absence of any reasonable basis for making such an allegation is confirmed by your own admission,” they wrote.

Continuing, they declared that “Litigation should not be used to create fake news. And it should not be used as a vehicle to spread false and malicious lies, as an extension of the shakeup,” before ordering:

“We demand that you issue an immediate public retraction and apologize to Mr. Cohen. Every day you fail to do so only increases the damage Mr. Cohen has suffered.”

Another challenge facing Cohen is a legal letter written by “Real Housewives” star Brandi Glanville, who claims he sexually harassed her.

The former model described that a visibly drunk Cohen expressed a desire to sleep with another cast member while thinking about it and even invited her to FaceTime him. As part of the letter:

“Mr. Cohen was Ms. Glanville’s boss at the time and exercised complete and total control over her career. This was an extraordinary abuse of power that left Ms. Glanville feeling trapped and disgusted. It is inconceivable that Mr. Cohen would have remained in his position despite his behavior this and harkening back to the bad days of Matt Lauer and NBC News when profits came before people.”
