Maine mass shooting suspect Robert Card has reportedly been found dead according to reports released Friday night, October 27.
On Wednesday, 18 individuals were killed and more than a dozen injured at two separate locations: the Just-In-Time Recreation bowling alley and the Schemengees Bar & Grille.
Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office Confirms Maine Mass Shooting Suspect ‘Dead’

In a statement posted to their Facebook page Friday night, the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s office released a brief statement that read, “The suspect in Wednesday night’s shooting has been located and has passed away.”
Hours before this news came in, Sheriff Eric G. Samson encouraged all individuals in the Maine area to “remain calm and vigilant,” writing, “The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office continues to keep the victims, families and communities affected by the horrific events in our county in mind us while we serve.”
Samson explained that not only is the county sheriff’s office in constant contact with public safety officials across the state, but he also noted that they are attending briefings and monitoring shared law enforcement information.

“We continue to offer assistance while ensuring we have sufficient resources needed throughout our district. A shelter-in-place request remains in effect for the greater Lewiston/Auburn and Lisbon areas,” the message said. “Many county and municipal officials are asked to provide officers at many community events, but there are not enough resources to cover every event.”
“Please keep those affected by this tragedy in your hearts and thoughts. Public Safety throughout the state and nation is dedicated to apprehending the individuals responsible while providing safety for all,” Samon concluded, encouraging the organization of any event to consider whether or not the event should be postponed for the safety of its members.
Mass Shooting Suspect Found Near Lisbon Falls

On Friday night, the body of 40-year-old Robert Card was found at 7:45pm near Lisbon Falls, where his car had been abandoned after Wednesday’s senseless act of violence. According to the Daily Mail, his body was found near a recycling plant near where he was fired recently. According to the outlet, Maine Department of Public Safety Commander Mike Sauschuck declined to say whether he had been dead for hours or days.
In a statement, Sauschuck said, “There’s a lot of work to be done here at the scene, and a lot more to follow up on,” confirming that Card is believed to have died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. wound
Sauschuck also noted that the hunting ban has been lifted in the area, as Saturday is the start of deer hunting season and an important day for many individuals in the area.

In a statement released Friday, President Joe Biden said, “These have been two tragic days – not just for Lewiston, Maine, but for our entire country. Once again, American communities and American families have been destroyed by gun violence.
“In all, at least eighteen souls were brutally killed, more injured, some critically, and dozens of families and friends prayed and suffered trauma that no one could have imagined,” he continued. “Many brave law enforcement officers have worked around the clock to find this suspect and prevent the loss of more innocent lives – all while risking their own lives. They are the best of us.”
“Tonight we are thankful that Lewiston and the surrounding community are safe after spending painful days hiding in their homes,” he said. “I thank Governor Janet Mills for her steadfast leadership during this crisis, and continue to direct my administration to provide everything necessary to support the people of Maine.”

On Friday night, Maine Governor Janet Mills said she was “breathing a sigh of relief knowing Card is no longer a threat to anyone,” adding, “Tonight the city of Lewiston and the people of Maine begin to move forward in a long process of healing – but we will heal, together.”
An order of protection at the scene was listed on Friday shortly before the discovery of Robert Card’s body was announced.
