Majority of Americans 18-24 think Israel should ‘be ended and given to Hamas’

A majority of young Americans say they believe Israel should be “stopped and given to Hamas,” according to a surprising poll.

A poll conducted THIS WEEK by Harvard-Harris polls found that 51% of Americans between the ages of 18 and 24 said they believe the long-term answer to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is for “Israel to end and be given to Hamas and the Palestinian people.”

Only 32% said they believed in a two-state solution, and only 17% said other Arab countries should be asked to absorb the Palestinian population.

That figure is in stark contrast to the other age groups, all of whom dramatically chose the two-state solution. Only 4% of Americans 65 and older say they feel Israel should end.

“These individuals who stand on the side of evil against democracy should be a wake-up call,” Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kansas) told The Post. “The ideological rot among America’s youth, fueled by vigilante values and a culture of victimhood, has become so severe that they convince themselves to sympathize with real terrorists who hate America,”

A whopping 60% of the same demographic said the October 7 Hamas terror attack could be “justified by the grievances of the Palestinian people” – a position held by just 27% of Americans overall.

At the same time, 58% of 18-24 year olds agree that “Hamas wants to commit genocide against Jews in Israel.”

When asked whether “Israel is committing genocide against those in Gaza or is it just trying to defend itself and eliminate Hamas,” 60% of Americans aged 18-24 say Israel is committing genocide — a view held by only 37% of Americans overall. Meanwhile 53% of young Americans say students should be free to call for “Jewish genocide” without consequence.

67% of 18-24 year olds said they believe Jews “should be considered oppressors” – a position 73% of Americans disagree with and call “false ideology.”

More than four in five Americans say they support Israel over Hamas – among them 18-24 the decision is dead even 50-50.

Americans of all ages said they were attuned to the conflict, with 69% telling the survey that they were paying “very close” or “somewhat close” attention. That figure rises to 81% for Americans 18-24.

The findings confirm earlier studies showing young Americans are among the most pro-Hamas. As many as 57% of American Muslims said they believe Hamas’s attacks on Israel were justified, according to a poll from Cygnal taken shortly after the massacre.

“The truth is that a false narrative has been allowed to fester and sink in large numbers of Generation Z students,” said pollster Mark Penn.

Many theories have been floated in recent weeks to explain young Americans’ more sympathetic view of Hamas, including vigilante professors and TikTok. The Chinese-owned social media company is often in the news for promoting self-harm to its users and recently for videos praising Osama Bin Laden.

Rep. Mike Gallagher, R-Wis., chairman of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party has called TikTok “digital fentanyl” and accused the company of “brainwashing our youth against America.”

The Harvard-Harris poll was conducted between Dec. 13-14 among 2,034 registered voters.
