His last message! Megan Thee Stallion is reflecting on her three-year fight for justice against Tory Lanez one last time.
The Hip-hop sensation needs no introduction; even if one doesn’t listen to his music, it’s impossible not to notice his horrific experience at the hands of the male rapper.
After telling the world in 2020 about being shot in the leg by the “Who Needs Love” artist, the 28-year-old was not immediately cleared. Instead, he was thrown to the wolves for daring to speak out about his pain.
Following an intense legal battle amid social media hate and twisted versions of the truth, the “WAP” rapper emerged victorious. Now, the passionate beauty is opening up about getting through the worst moments of her life.
Megan Thee Stallion Says She’s ‘Survivor’ In Her Final Message About Tory Lanez
ELLE Magazine
The Texas Southern University graduate recently broke her wall for her unfiltered life story since the 2020 incident. Dropping her heartbreaking yet powerful story in a lengthy essay for Elle Magazine, the singer stated that this would be her last discussion of the horrific experience.
“My intention is for these words to be the last time I will address anything about this case in the press,” the chart-topper admitted. “I understand people’s delusions, but for my mental health, I don’t plan to keep reliving the most traumatic experience of my life over and over again.”
“I chose to change the narrative because I am more than my trauma,” the four-time AMA winner declared, repeating the same sentiment as she did at the beginning of her essay.
The entertainer’s message begins with her reflecting on how the past three years have taught her to identify as “safe” instead of “victim.” Crediting himself for overcoming the overwhelming odds stacked against him, the Houston native wrote:
“I really survived the unimaginable. Not only did I survive being shot by someone I trusted and considered a close friend, but I overcame the public humiliation of having my name and reputation dragged by that individual for the whole world to see.”

The BET honoree explained that it was heartbreaking to endure years of ridicule from her attacker while watching people digest her false narrative about the incident. Things got worse when his peers in the industry joined Lanez in turning his trauma into a joke.
Calling out these individuals, the Hip-hop star wrote: “Even some of my peers in the music industry focus on memes, jokes, and snooping, and completely ignore the fact that I could lose my life.”
The People’s Choice Award winner continued, “Instead of condemning any form of violence against a woman, this individual is trying to justify the actions of my attacker,” noting that she stood firm against her enemies.
Commenting on her only regret about the situation, Megan admitted that she wanted to handle the matter in private. However, her assailant publicized the incident, and she was forced to put on a brave face as she fell into despair.
Megan stated that in the midst of the legal battle, she was in a “low place” and didn’t want to make music. She also doubted the public’s interest in her songs and recalled crying on different occasions before pulling “Megan Pete together” to become “Megan Thee Stallion.”

Although he doubts the public’s belief in his story, the show’s host is unwavering in his belief that the truth will set him free. When Lanez received his guilty verdict, the 28-year-old believed he had defeated a cog in the system. In his words,
“When the guilty verdict comes on December 23, 2022, it will be more than a vindication for me, it will be a victory for every woman who has been shamed, dismissed and blamed for violent crimes committed against them.”
The Houston native admitted black women are often pushed to suffer in silence because people assume that, according to the perceived stigma, she “doesn’t fit the victim profile, and I don’t need support or protection.”
With all that now behind her, the “WAP” singer has begun her healing journey and relies on prayer, journaling and setting boundaries to protect her mental health. He also returned to music and assured his fans that he has a new sound that he can’t wait for them to hear.
As a survivor, Megan ended her tearful message with a poignant statement: “As a society, we must create a safer environment for women to come forward about violent behavior without fear of retaliation. We must provide stronger resources for women to recover from these tragedies physically and emotionally, without fear of judgment. We must do more than mention his name. We must protect all women who have survived the unimaginable.

Tory Lanez Maintains Innocent & Appeals Guilty Verdict
While Megan hopes to move on from this eventually and never have her trauma make headlines, the opposite can be said for Lanes, who insists he is innocent.
Last month, The Blast reported that Lanez would not be going down without a fight following his guilty verdict in the shooting trial. To make sure the charges don’t drag on, the “In For It” rapper enlisted the help of a famous attorney named Jose Baez.
The famous criminal defense attorney began earning his reportedly high $200,000 monthly fee by attacking the case’s prosecutor for smearing his client with “irrelevant evidence.” Baez accused the other side of manipulating the jury with indecent photos.
The image captures Lanez shirtless with a gun tattooed on his chest. The defense attorney claimed the photo implied that his client had an interest in firearms and had nothing to do with the case. The lawyer also criticized the prosecutor for threatening to present the lyrics of the rapper’s song to the jury.

Additionally, Baez deemed it inappropriate to submit an Instagram post containing allegations about the incident from one of Megan’s producers.
