It’s been nearly three decades since the Spice Girls first hit the music scene, and fans are eagerly anticipating a reunion. However, their hopes for a return tour or performance may have been dashed, at least for now. Mel C has shut down rumors that the popular girl group will headline Glastonbury Festival 2023.
Mel C Reveals ‘Up in the Air’ About Spice Girls Reunion
Melanie Jayne Chisholm, aka Sport Spice, rose to prominence as part of the best-selling girl group of all time. She achieved global fame and won the hearts of fans with her tomboyish persona, complete with her karate kicking antics on stage in the late 1990s.
After experiencing all the ups and downs that being a superstar brings at the peak of his career, he has chosen a relatively simple life while still doing what he loves — dancing. In a recent interview with The Guardian, he talked about his latest project, a modern dance production with choreographer Jules Cunningham.

He stated that while doing promotion for the show, all he kept getting were questions about whether they would perform at Glastonbury Festival and if co-promoter Emily Eavis had contacted the band. He explained:
“It’s the question I hate the most because the answer is as disappointing to me as it is to Spice Girls fans,” adding, “We really loved doing Glasto. It doesn’t fit into the current plan with the girls. We want to get back on stage – everything is revealed.”
In his words, the singer clarified that there are no concrete plans for a reunion tour or performance, which disappointed the public who were hoping to see the Spice Girls back together on stage.
Fans will remember that their last show was without Victoria Beckham, aka Posh Spice, who was done with the pressure of being on stage. The 49-year-old revealed that the designer hung up her dancing shoes after the 2012 Olympics while the other women had an “incredible stadium show in 2019.”
The star stated that Beckham was afraid of missing out, which led her to hope that he would change his mind one day. Mel C also shared that when they were at Geri’s – Baby Spice – 50th, the 48-year-old “was the first one on the dance floor asking for a Spice Girls song.”
It’s not the first time rumors of a Spice Girls reunion have surfaced, and it probably won’t be the last. In December 2021, The Blast reported that the songwriter said he and other band members were talking about another tour.

The “Stages” singer detailed her plans for the event, noting that she wanted Beckham to be a part of the show because she missed the last performance. Speaking to guest host Howie Mandel on The Ellen DeGeneres, he teased that they’ve been talking about reuniting after the successful 13-date stadium show they did on the UK isles in 2019.
He explained that the show is to reward their loyal fans in the US, as they deserve it for continuing to support them even after so many years off the stage.
