Melania Trump’s time as First Lady has allegedly been spent in part meeting with lawyers to discuss her prenuptial agreement with former President Donald Trump.
According to Katie Rogers’ new book, which shines a light on Melania’s years as First Lady, the 53-year-old also rarely visited her office space in the East Wing. Due to the lack of use, White House aides decided to turn the place into a “swag room” for gifts.

Stephanie Grisham, the First Lady’s top aide, spoke with Rogers in her upcoming book, “American Women: The Transformation of the Modern First Lady, from Hillary Clinton to Jill Biden,” about her time with Melania.
Grisham claims that Melania spent most of her time as First Lady in “meetings with a team of lawyers to examine her assets and manage matters related to pre- and post-marital agreements with her husband.”
Another reporter, a Washington Post reporter, also wrote about the prenup in his biography of Melania, titled “The Art of Her Deal.” He revealed that Melania used her influence as First Lady at the time to renegotiate the deal and protect the interests of her son, Barron.
Jordan writes, per Daily Mail“He wants evidence in writing that when it comes to financial opportunities and inheritance, Barron will be considered more on par with Trump’s three eldest children.”
New Negotiations Are For Barron Trump’s Sake

A Page Six previous reports spoke of Melania’s renegotiations and stated that it was “at least the third time Melania has renegotiated the terms of her marriage agreement.” However, their sources claimed that the discussion was not because she was planning to leave Trump or go anywhere.
In Jordan’s book, he further wrote that Melania just wanted to make sure that Barron’s “rightful part of the inheritance” was protected.
“According to three people close to Trump, the main reason is that he finally reached a new and improved financial deal with Trump, which puts him in a better financial position,” Jordan wrote. “The sources don’t know exactly what he’s looking for, but it’s not just more money.”

Rogers revealed more details about the prenuptial renegotiation, saying it had been going on from the beginning and during Trump’s presidency. Grisham told him that Melania deliberately had “separate finances,” which were closely monitored.
Melania’s spokeswoman spoke to Rogers about the prenup. They denied the renegotiation but confirmed that he met with his lawyer.
“Mrs. Trump had a successful career before she met her husband and has always had her own businesses and assets. As a consummate professional, she regularly meets with her lawyers,” the spokesperson said, according to Daily Mail.
Donald Trump’s Legal Issues Also Play a Part in Melania’s Renegotiation

The timing of Melania’s renegotiation is allegedly also due to Trump’s many recent legal battles. It also appears to be fueled by the upcoming battle against President Joe Biden for a second term as president.
A source told Page Six, “This agreement is necessary because of the current legal battle… [Donald] have suffered.” The source noted at the time that “Trump remains very wealthy, but with mounting legal bills and judgments,” and that the renegotiated prenup would ensure a “solid future” for Melania and her son.
“It’s not that [Melania] threatened to leave him,” the insider claimed. “This is definitely a basic idea.”
To date, Trump owes hundreds of millions of dollars due to his legal battles. After the trial of E. Jean Carroll, the former president was fined over $83 million for defamation. In his fraud case brought by New York State Attorney General Letitia James, he was fined a whopping $355 million and barred from doing business in New York for the next three years.
Melania Trump’s East Wing Office Turned Into ‘Swag Room’

According to Rogers’ forthcoming book, aides can recall only two occasions when Melania walked from the White House residence on the second floor to her office in the East Wing: one was in response to a meeting request made by then-aide Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, and the another “happened when he was around and felt like shocking his staff.”
Since Melania allegedly only visited her office in the East Wing twice, White House aides decided to turn the place into a “swag room” where they could wrap and store gifts because “her desk was the only empty surface large enough for gift-setting.”
Rogers revealed in her book that among the gifts kept in Melania’s office were First Lady-themed key chains and coins, a bowl with the White House engraved on it, various pewter dishes, robes for guests staying in the Executive Residence, leather table sets, golf balls, towels golf, crystal bookends and crystal rattles.
Melania has a tendency to send gifts to her friends and associates of Trump.
