Variety shared the news that Barrera has been dropped from “Scream VII” by Spyglass Media, the production company behind the franchise. The media company released a statement on their decision:

“Spyglass’s position is crystal clear: We do not tolerate antisemitism or hate speech of any kind, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortions or anything that blatantly crosses the line into hate speech. .”

Barrera is slated to star in the next “Scream” show after appearing in the fifth and sixth sequels over the past two years. Amidst the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, the “Vida” actor has been vocal in his support for Palestine.

“Scream VII” is still in production, and Ortega is scheduled to be in Ireland by April 2024. The actress will be filming the second season of Netflix’s hit series “Wednesday,” in which she plays the lead role, causing a conflict in the shooting schedule.
