The beautiful island of Maui was basically burned to nothing. Not only is this shocking but there seems to be no end in sight to the massive fires and destruction that are destroying the homes and businesses of local residents.
In the latest video released today, it shows local residents fleeing to the water for help from the flames raging behind them. Many were jumping around screaming in fear with the clothes on their backs. People rely on surfboards to stay afloat.
The massive devastation is also captured by aerial shots that reveal charred boat docks, stores, cars, palm trees all the random things you don’t think about when a big fire rips through a place.

The one and only Oprah Winfrey showed up and got to work. He was found at a local shelter that served those in need. The millionaire waved the pillow and put it behind people’s heads.
He was seen with a blanket, and some tweeted that he was distributing snacks and food to people in shelters. Oprah is no stranger to helping others. He usually offers donations, but every once in a while, he gets his hands in there.

Other celebrities and reality stars have spoken out about the dire conditions in Maui. Jennifer Aniston has shared how people can help and where she donates. Kyle Richards tried to put out his own fire but still shared how he donated and how others can too.

Images shared online also show a before and after of Lahaina. It’s shocking to see some favorite local spots turned into charred structures only standing because of a few pieces of material the fire couldn’t destroy.
A local shared the news that more help was needed.
“Want to give an update because I have some first responder friends in Lahaina tonight. There are bodies all over the city and in the water that have yet to be counted and reported. So many people never make it,” they said. “There are probably hundreds dead and many more missing.”
Another local commented on the video and confirmed, “This is what really happened in Lahaina Maui… Hundreds have lost their lives and many (those who didn’t survive) are still in the ocean. Just heartbreaking! Pray.”
Another follower shared an image of the city’s landmark, Fleetwoods, completely gutted. “Fleetwoods front road. lost Send help. @POTUS,” local residents wrote, pleading for help.

Many Twitter users also called for President Joe Biden’s help but some believe he has already done what he can.
“Lahaina, Maui is my home. You can’t speak for me. Joe Biden has directed all federal assets available on the Islands to assist with the response. He can do that AND help Ukraine. We can do both in the US. I stand with Ukraine AND I am #MauiStrong. And you are despicable,” wrote one follower who slammed another follower for accusing Biden of not doing enough and sending money to Ukraine instead.

Meanwhile, others shared their theories on how the fire spread so quickly and out of control. Just a few hours before the fire started, a user recorded all the debris along the side of the road.
“For all those asking how the #lahaina fire could happen so quickly:
“Imagine the debris burning in 80mph winds. This was 9:30am trying to leave Lahaina… hours earlier. This video can be used by any and all media. Spread the word to get help to #maui!”
Here’s hoping this tragedy doesn’t get worse.
