Hallmark and Venmo are coming together for a “first-of-its-kind collaboration,” which will ultimately change the way gifts are given.
Customers can securely send money with Venmo in a physical Hallmark card, which will offer a new and easy way to gift friends and family. “By bringing together Hallmark’s legacy of caring and Venmo’s social, secure and convenient payments, the two brands are transforming the gift-giving experience,” according to an official press release.
“Our new partnership with Venmo represents an innovative new way to let someone know you’re thinking of them with a simple, secure and seamless gift of cash,” said Darren Abbott, Hallmark’s Senior Vice President of Global Product Development and Innovation. “Gifting trends are always evolving and we want to stay at the forefront of what consumers need to share thoughtful and unique gifts with their loved ones.”
The new card line offers a wide variety of Birthday, Congratulations, Wedding, Holiday and Everyday cards.
“The Venmo community consistently turns to the platform to surprise and delight each other with monetary gifts, whether it’s treating a friend to their morning coffee, celebrating a birthday or a random gift of kindness,” said Erika Sanchez, Vice President and General Manager at Venmo. “Partnering with Hallmark not only brings Venmo into the physical gifting space but also helps connect a generation used to giving physical greeting cards with cash to a younger generation used to having everything digital – like grandparents sending birthday gifts to their grandkids or family celebrating recent graduation.”

The Blast had the opportunity to sit down with Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd to talk about their new partnerships with Hallmark and Venmo and how this will change the future of gift giving.
“It’s a one of a kind partnership,” Murgatroyd told The Blast exclusively. “Venmo and Hallmark have never worked together before, and it’s something that, for us, is very genuine and organic in our lives.”
The “Dancing With the Stars” expert went on to explain how she’s a pretty good card giver and can “get married [a physical card] with the ability to scan a code on the inside and be able to send someone’s money directly to their account, that convenience in our lives right now is immeasurable.”
Maksim Chmerkovskiy chimed in, admitting that “like a normal guy, I use credit cards like a cash drawer,” but explained how Hallmark has made it easy for him to choose something for any occasion that’s already written and thought out.
“Partnering with Hallmark and Venmo is incredible because of how easy it is to transfer cash and add a monetary component these days,” he told The Blast. “Look, we’re all adults, and this is part of life, and we have to make sure we adjust, and this adjustment is amazing.”
The way this new collaboration works is that customers can choose cards from a new line to celebrate various events, scan the unique QR code inside each card, choose how much they want to give and even write a personalized message by hand.
When the recipient opens the card, they will scan the QR code to access the gift amount, which will be transferred to their Venmo account.
