Killer Danelo Cavalcante was led out of a Pennsylvania State Police station Wednesday with drops of blood visible on his hospital gown — while new images emerged showing the heroics of the K-9 that finally captured him hours earlier.
Cavalcante, who led police on a dramatic two-week manhunt after the crab walked over a wall and broke out of the Chester County Jail on Aug. 31, was escorted out of the Pottstown station by heavily armed police, who put him in body armor. car and took him away.
The 34-year-old Brazilian’s face was still battered and bloodied after being ordered out of the woodpile this morning, and he walked with his wrists and ankles in handcuffs and his bare feet on the pavement.
People stood there, filming and cheering as the killer was led away. Cavalcante was arrested Wednesday morning after a K9 unit sniffed him and found him hiding with a .22 caliber rifle at his side.
He tried to crawl away from the police, said Lt. Colonel George Bivens of the Pennsylvania State Police was in a press conference, but was stopped after the police dog bit him.

Yoda is a 4-year-old Belgian Malinois serving with the US Border Patrol’s Tactical K9 unit, which was drafted in to help track down Cavalcante.
The killer was wearing a Philadelphia Eagles hoodie when he was arrested, and his forehead was covered in blood where the K9 bit his scalp.
The police arrested him without firing a single shot.
“Cavalcante didn’t realize he was surrounded until he was,” Bivens said of the undercover arrest, which began around 1 a.m. Wednesday when a DEA plane detected heat signals in bushes, reportedly behind a tractor supply store in South Coventry Township.
Additional charges in addition to his manslaughter conviction for killing his ex-girlfriend are now pending in the District Attorney’s Office, Bevin said.

Some critics called the photo-op tasteless, but Bevins dismissed that opinion at a news conference and praised the officers who assisted in the arrest.
“Those men and women work hard. I’m not bothered at all,” Bivens said with a shrug.
“They take pride in their work.”

Cavalcante escaped from prison shortly after being sentenced to life in prison for the April 2021 fatal stabbing of his ex-girlfriend, Deborah Brandão.
He is also suspected of shooting dead his friend over a car payment in his native Brazil in 2017.
After the murder, he hid for weeks in the Brazilian countryside before traveling illegally to the United States.
