Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas are involved in a damages claim after being forced to vacate their luxury home in California.
The Hollywood sweethearts are embroiled in an ongoing lawsuit when their $20 million dream home turns into a mold-infested nightmare. The couple wants to be compensated for real estate issues; however, their case became another legal drama.
No One Willing To Be Accountable In Priyanka Chopra & Nick Jonas’ House Case
Chopra and Jonas bought the California property in September 2019, believing it would be the ultimate blessing for their family. The mansion has everything a celebrity could ask for, including a chef’s kitchen, temperature-controlled wine cellar, full-service gym and billiards room.

The property also features seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms, an indoor basketball court, an indoor bowling alley, a home theater, an entertainment room and a spa with a steam shower, among other luxuries. However, the couple hardly enjoyed this comfort as things went awry around April 2020.
According to their lawsuit filed in May 2023, Chopra and Jonas began having problems with the pool and spa. These problems include “porous waterproofing” that “gives rise to mold contamination and related issues.”
The newlyweds also noticed a water leak in the barbecue area on the deck, which allegedly damaged “part of the interior living room right below the deck.” Legal documents obtained by PageSix assert that the highlighted problems make the mansion “virtually unlivable” and “dangerous from a health perspective to occupy.”
“This has resulted in substantial and substantial damages along with a failure of judgment, requiring the purchase and sale to be rescinded,” the lawsuit says, adding that Chopra and Jonas are seeking “consequential damages” through their trustee.
“Alternatively, the plaintiff should be reimbursed for all repair costs, plus compensation for loss of use and other damages caused by the defendant’s conduct,” the document reads.

While exact costs have yet to be determined, the complaint states the waterproofing issue will exceed $1.5 million, while general damages are estimated at around $2.5 million. Fred Fenster, the attorney representing the couple’s trustees, shared more details about the ongoing lawsuit.
According to the legal representative, the case has experienced several problems because no one is willing to take responsibility. Everyone associated with the mansion allegedly sued each other to prevent the wrongdoing. In Fenster’s words:
“The trustee files a lawsuit against the builder, the builder then files a counter-complaint against the subcontractor, the subcontractor then files a lawsuit against their people.”
“It’s like everyone who puts a pick or shovel in the property will be involved, and it will be up to the builder to decide and prove who is responsible for the defect,” lamented the lawyer.
As for Chopra and Jonas, both have moved out of their California mansion with their daughter, Malti. It’s not clear when they will return, but they may remain at another property until their $20 million home renovation is complete.
