Selena Gomez Fans Bitter As Beauty Brand Shows Support For Palestine

Selena Gomez has apparently taken part in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war through her beloved makeup brand, Rare Beauty!

A week after the pop star broke her silence on the ongoing crisis, resulting in a backlash from fans and critics alike, Gomez’s brand announced they would be making a donation to help the affected Palestinian civilians.

Rare Beauty Selena Gomez Gets Heat For Donating To Palestine

On Instagram Rare Beauty released a statement about their plans along with a post with the words, “Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza.” The inclusive makeup brand declares they are “devastated by the images & reports coming from the Middle East.”

“Thousands of innocent Palestinian civilians have been killed in Israeli airstrikes & millions of civilians have been displaced & left without access to food, water, medicine, or basic necessities for survival,” the statement continued.

Proudly expressing their support for Gaza, Rare Beauty wrote, “Most of these victims are children. Palestinian civilians must be protected, period.” However, Gomez’s company also showed support for Israel, writing, “We remain saddened by the horrific terrorist attack on innocent civilians in Israel on October 7, many of them children. There is no situation where attacks on civilians are acceptable.”

Clarifying the position of the company and its possible owner, Gomez, Rare Beauty stated that they “strongly condemn any & all forms of anti-Semitism and Islamophobia.” It’s quite similar to the “Wizards of Waverly Place” alum’s initial stance that got him bullied.

As a result, Rare Beauty will put their money where their mouth is and make a donation to help the people of Gaza.

“Rare Beauty will make a donation to the International Red Cross/Red Crescent Society – Magen David Adom, & the Palestine Red Crescent Society – which provides immediate care in the field. We will also donate to UNICEF to help get urgent medical aid & resources to the children of Gaza.

Explaining the reasoning behind their action, they wrote, “Our company’s DNA is rooted in inclusivity. Our company is diverse & employs individuals from a variety of backgrounds including race, faith, sexuality, gender identity & religion – many of whom have been directly affected by terrorism recently..”

Rare Beauty then urged its users to “treat each other with kindness & compassion in these times” before encouraging those who may need help with their mental health to use the resources available.

Unfortunately, Gomez didn’t miss any backlash even though the message came from her brand. Some fans criticized him for being more pro-Palestinian. “This post is so messed up. It’s like taking care of your mental health but you are only allowed to be mentally healthy if you are Palestinian!! ~ Selena Gomez,” wrote an angry fan.

Another scathing comment read, “Stop supporting terrorism.. Hamas is ISIS and uses the people of Gaza as human shields. Use your platform to oppose Hamas.. you have chosen the wrong side of history.”

Some fans branded the donation announcement a “marketing tactic”. One user commented, “Numbers must drop because of the face of the business and the message. I think marketing is handling this now and seeing the effect of Huda’s beauty. I’m sorry but no, this is not a way to bring in money. Marketing propaganda. FREE PALESTINE.”

Remember last week, the “Single Soon” singer finally broke his silence on the Israel-Hamas war via Instagram Story. “I have taken a break from social media because I am heartbroken to see all the horror, hatred and violence going on in the world. People being tortured and killed or any act of hatred towards any one group is horrible,” the Disney alumnus wrote.

He continued, “We need to protect EVERYONE, especially children and stop violence for good.” The 31-year-old woman stated that her words “will never be enough for everyone or a hashtag.” However, he can’t “put up with innocent people getting hurt” because it makes him sick.

Gomez concluded, “I wish I could change the world but a job won’t. Honey, Selena.” In a surprising twist, his post drew backlash from pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian supporters.

One fan commented, “I’m glad I never spent my money on your products. Shame on you Selena. You portray positivity and influence so much good to the world and now you’re back with posts like this on your IG.”

Another stated, “He is always the victim. lol, I can actually believe his words but suddenly I remembered how concerned he is about the Ukrainian War. Shame on you Selena. Remain silent [sic] as usual.”

Fans’ disapproval of the statement may go back to the “Only Murder in the Building” actor, who later took to his Instagram to announce he was quitting work. “I’m taking a break and deleting my Instagram. I’m done. I do not support any of the things that happened.”
