Shakira shed some light on their split in her digital cover Ella in the year 2022.
He admitted he had experienced the “darkest hour” of his life amid the break-up and accusations of tax fraud by the Spanish government.
“I paid everything they claimed I owed, even before they filed the lawsuit,” he said Elle magazine. “So as of today, I owe them zero. And finally, I was advised by one of the four largest tax specialist firms in the world, PricewaterhouseCoopers, so I was confident that I did things correctly and transparently from day one.”
Shakira called the Spanish government’s allegations “false accusations,” and she plans to fight the case as a “matter of principle.”
“However, even without evidence to support these fictional claims, as they often do, they have used brazen press campaigns to try to influence the public, and used pressure in the media along with the threat of reputational damage to force a settlement,” he explained.
