The Sinbad Family Set Up A Website To Share Updates And Information
On the pages of The Journey Forward, the story of Sinbad is shared. “On October 25, 2020, Sinbad suffered an ischemic stroke as a result of a blood clot that flowed from his heart to his brain,” the statement said. It went on to explain that he was rushed into surgery and doctors performed a thrombectomy to remove the blood clot. “After the surgery, Sinbad spoke and moved with some weakness, but the prognosis is very promising. The next day, however, another blood clot formed, half the size of the first. He underwent the same operation again successfully but it took less time than the first operation.”
After the surgery, his brain began to swell. A craniotomy is performed to relieve pressure and reduce swelling. “During surgery, however, the doctor discovered bleeding,” the story continued. “It was hours before the family learned that Sinbad had returned to the Neuro-ICU in a medically induced coma and was placed on a ventilator. Our hearts are broken. The road to recovery becomes unclear and very difficult for the family to navigate.”
On November 16, 2020, the family shared the news on Sinbad’s Instagram page.

“She Continues to Receive Therapy, Fights for Every Inch”
It was weeks before Sinbad opened his eyes and showed signs of rudimentary movement. The family quickly realized that he was unable to move his left side or lift his head. “For the next several months, Sinbad moved through an acute care facility where he was weaned off the ventilator and finally allowed to begin intensive therapy,” his family updated on the website. “In May 2021, he was admitted to the California Rehabilitation Institute and began physical, occupational and speech therapy. It was there that Sinbad began to make great strides towards recovery.”
Almost nine months after the initial stroke, Sinbad was finally able to return home. “He continues to receive therapy, fighting for every inch. His progress has been nothing short of remarkable,” the website said. ” Limbs that were said to be ‘dead’ came back to life and he took the necessary steps to learn to walk again. In his own words, ‘I’m not done yet. I won’t stop fighting until I can walk across the stage again.‘ And neither will we.”

Sinbad’s Family Shares Update For His Fans
In December 2020, the family shared a video update on Sinbad’s Instagram page. “On behalf of our father, Sinbad, our mother, Meredith, our sister, Gem, and the entire Adkins family, we would like to take a moment to give everyone an update on our father’s health. We are happy to report that he continues to recover and is getting better every day,” the caption began.
They went on to thank everyone, from the doctors to their fans. “We conclude, now, with a few words directly from the man himself -‘I have seen firsthand how hard our medical workers are working during COVID and cannot emphasize enough how much we must appreciate them. We can show this appreciation just by wearing a mask. Thank you to God for all He gives you, even if it’s not all you ask for. Thank you God for family and hug your loved ones while you’re still with them. We need each other to get through this journey. I can’t wait to see you all more soon. As always, stay funky, always praying!'”
Adkins Family Set Up Trust For Anyone Who Wants To Help
Sinbad has overcome the odds and has made progress beyond expectations, but he still has a long way to go. The cost of the therapy exceeded what insurance covered and it was affecting the family’s finances, so they set up a site where people could donate, with all gifts received going to the Adkins Trust to provide Sinbad’s continued care.
At the bottom of the website in large print is a message from Sinbad, “Thank God for everything He gave you, even if it wasn’t everything you asked for. Thank God for family and hug your loved ones while you are still with them. We need each other to get through this journey. I look forward to seeing you all again soon. As always, stay funky, always pray.”
