The “Murder on the Orient Express” actor may have to use the Force to save people trapped in a skyscraper in his new movie, “Cleaner.” The film is being developed by “Casino Royale” and “GoldenEye” filmmaker Martin Campbell, as reported by Deadline.
The action-thriller will be set in present-day London and feature radical activists who take over the energy company’s annual gala in Western Europe’s tallest skyscraper. This building is known as the Shard and contains three hundred people who are now held hostage to expose the corruption of the energy company.

However, the cause is hijacked by a zealous extremist in their own group, who is ready to kill everyone in the building to send his message. Joey Locke (Dasiy Ridley), an ex-soldier turned window cleaner, is suspended ninety stories outside a building when a hostage situation unfolds.
It’s up to Locke to rescue the hostages trapped inside, bust the killers, and find a way to bring the energy company’s corruption to light and ensure the corrupt leaders face justice.
Filming is Expected to Begin in Late Summer 2023

The picture, which will eventually go to the Cannes market, was financed and produced by Anton with Sebastien Raybaud and Callum Grant serving as producers. Production on the film is scheduled to begin in late summer this year, with possible filming locations still being discussed. There is no word yet on whether the film will actually be filmed in the iconic Shard building.
In a statement, filmmaker Martin Campbell said: “Cleaner is a nail-biting thriller, unique and original in both its characters and setting. Most of the film takes place on the side of the Shard – hundreds of feet in the air – and I wanted the audience to be up there with Joey in a gut-wrenching, dizzying experience. There is no actress more instinctive and powerful than Daisy right now to help us do that. The majority of my films are thrillers and Cleaner is one of the best I have ever read.”

Producer Sebastien Raybaud added: “It has always been a desire to make a European action-thriller that is sophisticated, provocative and fun at the same time. Independent films from our region with heart and identity, but also provide a unique and accessible proposition for contemporary audiences around the world. With Martin and Daisy at the helm, and a very unpredictable and authentic script, we have everything we need to do.”
Daisy Ridley has become one of the most sought after actresses in Hollywood. He has just finished shooting his noir thriller “Magpie,” which is based on a story he wrote. She also wrapped filming on two separate projects last year: “The Marsh King’s Daughter” and “Young Woman and the Sea.”
