Taylor Swift has finally addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding ticketing for her highly anticipated return to the stage for her first tour since 2018.
Swift released her statement via her Instagram story on Friday morning, expressing her disappointment and her intention to reveal more information about Ticketmaster’s handling of the situation.
The “Lavender Haze” singer also revealed she and her team have been assured that the “outside entity” she has enlisted to oversee ticket sales is equipped to handle the high demand.
Tickets for Swift’s first tour in half a decade went on sale earlier this week. However, fans quickly began to face an increasing amount of roadblocks which would later result in Ticketmaster crashing shortly after tickets went on sale!
The Blast will see resale tickets at exponential prices that will soon begin to appear in response to inflated ticket prices. According to our work, front-row tickets to Swift’s show at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA, are going for up to $22,500. In Boston and Chicago, the cheapest tickets range between $600 and $800.
Ticketmaster had announced the cancellation of the public sale on Friday the day before, citing “insufficient ticket inventory” as the reason for the company’s inability to keep up with demand.
Taylor Swift Releases Statement Surrounding Ongoing Ticketmaster Controversy
Swift finally broke her silence on Friday, releasing a statement via her Instagram story amid mounting fan speculation about her silence.
“Well. It goes without saying that I am very protective of my fans. We’ve been doing this for decades together and over the years, I’ve brought so many elements of my career in-house. I’ve done this SPECIFICALLY to improve the quality of my fans’ experience by doing it with myself and my team who care as much about my fans as I do,” Swift began her statement, “It’s really hard for me to trust outsiders. entity with this relationship and loyalty, and it pains me to see mistakes happen without any other way…”
Swift also revealed he and his team have been assured Ticketmaster will be sufficiently equipped with the technology to handle ticket requests and traffic to their system.
“There are many reasons why people have difficulty getting tickets and I am trying to think about how this situation can be improved in the future. I’m not going to make excuses for anyone because we asked them, many times if they can handle this kind of request and we’re confident they can. It’s amazing that 2.4 million people got tickets, but it really pisses me off because a lot of them feel like they’ve gone through some bear attacks to get them,” Swift continued.
Swift concluded her statement by revealing her hope that fans will finally get more opportunities to enjoy hearing her songs live, including several albums’ worth of songs that have never been performed live.
Swift’s “Lover Fest” show was delayed and ultimately canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Swift released the show’s eponymous album in August 2019, before the coronavirus set in early 2020.
She’ll put her quarantine to good use: Swift will release two albums in 2020.

Social media responses soon began to pour in following Swift’s statement.
Swifties took to discussing the news on Twitter, an outlet that has experienced an onslaught of coverage this week as well.
“Taylor swift publicly siding with her fans against major corporations like ticketmaster and risking her touring career and her relationship with this monopoly is honestly the most loyal thing I can think of. I don’t want to hear anymore that she doesn’t care about her fans,” one Swiftie tweeted.
“Raise your hand if Taylor’s statement confused you more,” wrote another Swiftie along with a photo of Swift raising her hand. When a fellow fan asked the original poster to elaborate, they tweeted “I wonder if resale tickets will be valid because that’s the only way we all do it.”
“The fault lies with Ticketmaster,” one fan said justified. “Anyone who says different is wrong. It is their job to handle requests. They shouldn’t do a lot of what they do. Taylor cares and has always cared about her fans. To say otherwise is wrong.”
“One thing I admire about Taylor is that when people don’t do what he wants and how it should be done, he takes matters into his own hands with his own team. He’s done it before and he’ll do it again,” a Swiftie write supports Swift actions. “I trust him with everything in me.”
Taylor Swift’s highly anticipated tour will begin on March 17, 2023 in Arizona, and end on August 9 in Los Angeles.
