The iconic singer said the loss of Ana Clara Benevides Machado “broke” his heart and said he couldn’t talk about it from the stage. Taylor Swift addressed the tragic death of a fan at a recent Eras Tour show. The singer posted a handwritten note on her Instagram Story on Friday, where she said the loss “breaks” her heart. Time for Fun, one of the organizers of the event, announced on X, previously known as Twitter, that 23-year-old Ana Clara Benevides Machado had died at the Rio de Janeiro concert.
The post revealed that Machado felt ill at the Estadio Nilton Santos stadium and received attention from first responders. He was eventually transferred to Salgado Filho Hospital, where Machado eventually died.
In her statement, Swift wrote, “I can’t believe I’m writing these words, but it’s with a broken heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show. I can’t tell you how devastated I am by this. There is little information I have other than the fact that she is very beautiful and too young.”
He Won’t Talk About Ana’s Death

Swift also stated in her statement that she will not be able to talk about Machado’s death during the show because of the “sadness” it has caused.
He wrote, “I will not be able to talk about this from the stage because I feel overwhelmed with grief when I try to talk about it. I want to say right now that I feel this loss deeply and my heart goes out to his family and friends.”
Swift concluded, “This is the last thing I thought would happen when we decided to bring this tour to Brazil.”
Thiago Fernandes, a friend of the late Machado, spoke to him Fohla De S. Paulolocal news station, per People magazine.
He said, “I want Ana to appear on the screen on Taylor’s show.” Fernandes also posted a tribute to Machado on Instagram, which read, “I can’t believe you’re gone, I can’t take it. We talked about this show many times, and I wish I was with you.”

Fan footage from the concert was later shared on X, and it shows Swift pausing on stage several times to help her fans. In one video, Swift can be seen pointing to a section where fans are asking for water.
He said, “There are people who need water, here. So whoever is responsible for giving them that, please come and make sure that happens.”
Another viral video from X shows the “Out of the Woods” singer once again showing some fans in need of water and help. He can be heard saying, “Sorry, it’s really hot, so if someone says they need water in this heat, they really need it. We don’t have to chant, that’s fine. But we just need to get them water.”

The concert in Sao Paolo comes after Swift received a warm welcome to Brazil for her Eras tour in the country. After her latest show in Buenos Aires with boyfriend Travis Kelce, the “You Belong With Me” singer arrived in Sao Paolo on Thursday.
Swift was welcomed into the country with a beautiful image displayed on Brazil’s famous Christ the Redeemer statue.
A photo from X shows the show: a white shirt with various symbols from Swift’s hit song. It includes a scarf to represent “All Too Well,” a bow and arrow for “The Archer,” and the names of various states in Brazil.
