Over the next 36 years, the institution inaugurated several artists and musicians by honoring them with ceremonies and preserving pieces of their legacy through The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio, which opened its doors in the fall of 1995.

Each year the ‘HOF’ lists a number of rock and roll artists and contributors who are then voted into annual ‘classes’ as determined by “rock historians,” according to Brittanica. In recent years the public has been given access through online voting; a final list of artist candidates is released for fans to vote for their favorite after being reviewed by a panel of experts.
