‘Today’ Hoda Kotb Knows With ‘Certainty’ That Love Will Happen For Her Soon

Hoda Kotb doesn’t let age stop her from showing true love.

The 58-year-old opened up about wanting love in her life during Tuesday’s episode of “Today With Hoda & Jenna,” including making an unexpected confession about a late male celebrity crush. Her confession comes months after she announced that she and her longtime partner, Joel Schiffman, were splitting up after nearly a decade together.

Just before Kotb talked about his desire for a romantic relationship, he confessed to Jenna Bush Hager that he had a crush on the late actor Brian Dennehy. In his words:

“There’s something about him. He has that whole, strong police officer [quality]. Like, there’s something about him. He’s big, but he’s hot.”

After his 40-year-old co-host asked if that’s what he should be looking for when trying to arrange it, Kotb replied:

“For everyone who is at a phase in their life where they may or may not be with a partner. My sister once said to me, ‘Are you afraid of being alone?’ And I know this is very strange, but I said to him, ‘I will not be alone.’ Like, I actually know, as sure as I’m sitting next to you at this table. I have two beautiful daughters that I love, obviously.”

After explaining that he knows “for sure — and it’s the strangest feeling to know,” Kotb claims that he can “feel it sometimes, but I don’t see what he looks like, but I think it’s going to happen.” The former “Dateline NBC” correspondent is so confident in her love story that if she’s told she’ll meet someone by Christmas, she’ll be fine with that.

The mother of two ended her statement by noting that while she’s not actively “hunting,” she has a “tingly Spidey feeling about it.” You’ll recall that the broadcast reporter announced her new single status during an episode of “Today” back in January.

The Blast notes that Kotb explained why she went out without an engagement ring during the NBC News morning show. She revealed that after she and her ex had some “prayerful” and important conversations, they decided they were better “as friends and parents” than as an engaged couple.

The NBC personality added that she and Schiffman are forging a new path as friends and co-parents to their two children — Haley Joy Kotb and Hope Catherine Kotb in 2022. She admitted that while nothing bad happened to cause their split, she thinks their relationship was “meant to be there for a season.”

The broadcaster further mentioned that although she felt uncomfortable and awkward sharing personal news with the public, she had to open up about the life-changing parts she wanted to forget. Elaborating on it, Kotb said:

“I think a lot of women know what it’s like right now to change course in life, and I feel very brave right now … Sometimes in your life, you just have to say [sic] truth.”

Her honest speech captivated her fans, who wasted no time showering her with support, love and well wishes while also expressing their sadness over the end of her engagement.

In May, The Blast observed that during a red carpet interview, Kotb revealed that he was focused on enjoying his time with his children. The former WINK reporter, who attended The Hollywood Reporter’s Annual Most Powerful People in New York Media with Hager and Savannah Guthrie, said:

“I really enjoy my children and my life. I appreciate this time.”

Her friends seemed to support her decision, with Guthrie declaring that anyone who wanted to date Kotb would have to go through her and Hager. At this point, Hager said, “Yes, and good luck,” adding that the older reporter had “two very protective sisters.”

Before entering into an eight-year relationship with Schiffman, Kotb walked down the aisle with former University of New Orleans tennis coach Burzis Kanga in 2006. The couple’s union barely lasted three years, as they divorced in 2008.
