Unfortunately, after the fight over the weekend, Michelle Waterson-Gomez is now on a four-fight losing streak for the “Karate Hottie,” who falls to 1-6 in her last seven fights.
UFC Hall of Famer Rashad Evans, who served as Waterson’s teammate for years while both fighters trained under head coach Greg Jackson, also spoke about the loss.
“It was tough,” Evans said during the UFC Vegas 79 post-fight show, per MMA Fighting. “Because at the end of the night, when he came to me, he said, ‘I don’t want him to stop it. I want to go back. I want to come back and I know I can.’”
“I’ve known Michelle for a long time,” added Evans. “We went back to Jackson and when he was named ‘Peanut.’ He’s one of the guys on the team and he’s always there, just through the training we do.
Evans continued, “It was hard for me to see that at the time because I know what it’s like to want to move on, but you can’t.”
