Viola Davis took to social media on Wednesday, June 21, to mark her and husband Julius Tennon’s wedding anniversary.
The Academy Award-winning actress — honored at the Chaplin Awards Gala last April — and her longtime sweetheart made their union official in June 2003. Sharing old and recent images with her 11 million followers, Davis gushed about the depth of their relationship since they married two decades ago. .

In the entertainment industry, where many marriages have ended before the five-year mark, Davis has kept it going, recently marking 20 years of marital bliss. Taking to Instagram, the Rhode Island College graduate dropped six photos highlighting some of her most memorable moments with Tennon.
In the first photo, the “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” star leans into her husband and looks lovingly at him as they sit in the back of a convertible with a red interior. A second image shows the couple smiling happily while holding each other tightly, and a third shows their younger selves beaming at the camera.
The “Water” actress shines in the fourth and fifth photos, showing her and Tennon on their wedding day and then — what we’re assuming — the lovebirds’ vow renewal featuring their adopted son, Genesis. The final shot was Davis showing off her effortless beauty in a floor-length black-and-white striped gown.
Her handsome husband stood beside her, holding her waist, in a neutral two-piece suit and white button-down shirt. Under the carousel of snaps, the EGOT queen wrote:
“20 years of relationship. We have seen the loss of family members and hold each other. We have had praise, success, joy, sadness, exhaustion and I still feel your grip. Through the fire and brimstone of our lives we have endured…together…..each other….understanding no matter what, the promise is to never let go. Until the end of my love…. Happy 20th Anniversary!!!”

Several people, including Davis’ famous friends and fans, offered their congratulations in the comments section of the post. His “The Help” co-star Octavia Spencer exclaimed, “Happy Birthday, y’all!!!!” and actress Taraji P. Henson dropped three Purple Heart emojis.
At the same time, a fan praised, “Beautiful couple. You all get better with age,” and another said, “Happy Birthday! May you have many more decades of love, laughter, respect, and adventure together.”

Davis and Tennon have been warming people’s hearts since 1999 when they first met on the set of the classic CBS series, “City of Angels.” Since the “How to Get Away with Murder” star was new to Los Angeles, the stranger suggested taking her to the Santa Monica Pier.
Although hesitant at first, he finally gave in to the request of the cast of “Another Pair of Aces”, and the rest quickly became history. They dated for four years before walking down the aisle – twice – in 2003.
