The one-time heir to Cox’s roughly $34 billion media empire – which liquidated his share of his family’s reported $250 million assets and disowned his relatives – is now pouring his money into fighting Israel, Zionism and other “anti-colonialist” causes from currently. landed in Tunisia.

Chambers, who attended Bard College, where his father now chairs the board of trustees, now lives in Tunisia and is studying the Arabic of the Koran as part of what he calls a “restoration” to Islam.
He was there with his Jewish partner, 40-year-old former actress Stella Schnabel, daughter of artist Julian Schnabel and their son Victor, 2.
He is the eldest son of James Cox Chambers, co-owner of the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks who has a net worth of $5.65 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

After divorcing Chambers’ mother, artist Lauren Hamilton, Cox Chambers went on to marry the daughter of Saudi arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi.
Chambers told The Post that many of his family members, including socialite Katherine Rayner, were “sociopaths.”
“I’m not saying my mother is like that but I have a problem with the way she raised me,” he said. “But most of them are, and I am one of those who make it all [family] money.”

His father did not return phone calls from The Post.
Chambers has come under fire in the US where he is portrayed as a Communist who hates the police for the capitalist power that has led to the success of his family, which is reportedly the eighth richest in the country.
He has also been accused of building a Communist militia, in the Alford area of the Berkshires, called the Berkshire Communists.
The Berkshire Eagle newspaper first sounded the alarm on Chambers and what he called his “comrades” in November, calling him a “pro-Hamas, pro-Palestinian gun owner.”
The Eagle reports that county residents fear Chambers and his group because of his tweets and unapologetic, anti-American, anti-Israel remarks, in real life and online, and have sent screenshots of his broadcasts to nearby newsrooms and police departments.
(Chambers is also very anti-police and wants them repealed.)

Berkshire County District Attorney Timothy Shugrue told the State Police Detective Unit assigned to his office to “continue to keep him on top of the situation,” the Eagle reported.
In response to public concerns, Shugrue responded with a statement that “strongly condemns those who spew hateful rhetoric in our community.”
The name of Berkshire’s Communist financing arm is the Babochki collective and it is run by the group’s secretary, Paige Belanger, in his absence, Chambers said. “He definitely didn’t have any firearms,” he added.
The Post has reached out to Belanger for comment.
Chambers added that he owned almost no firearms and that he had not built an armed camp in the Berkshires.

“No one raised the militia in Alford,” he told The Post.
On accusations of antisemitism: “We have Jewish members and Jewish residents, who despise Zionism, despite its liberal shadow, more than anyone.”
Local residents in Alford have been shocked by Chambers’ rhetoric.
“The United States of America is & always will be wholly irredeemable & indefensible,” Chambers wrote on X Sunday. “The most beautiful souls, the greatest impressions born within its prison walls, since the English occupation began, have shone so brightly in spite of it and against it. Never be a part of it.”

The Free Press recently visited Chambers at his former home in New Hampshire, which he has publicly acknowledged as his address for tax purposes, and also spoke with several residents of Alford, Mass., who said Chambers and several people who live in the 300 his. acres of property there are like “mobs” or “cults” with “Fergie playing the role of two teachers and sugar daddy.”
Chambers said referring to him as a cult leader was “beyond crazy,” adding, “Westerners are obsessed with individual cults. I’m nobody’s boss. I’ve been fortunate enough to have a lot of resources and some smart people who have clear ideas and I’ve tried to share and take advantage of it. I would never take myself seriously enough to be a ‘teacher.'”
Pro-Palestinian activist Calla Walsh chained herself to the entrance to the offices of Israel-based arms manufacturer Elbit Systems in Cambridge, Mass., in October along with Chambers and Berlager,
“The piecemeal attacks on Fergie, and ridiculous fabrications like ‘the Berkshire County people’s militia’ show how afraid the ruling class is that one of their own has become a genuine class traitor,” Walsh told The Post Monday.

Atlanta-based Cox Enterprises was founded in 1898 by Chambers’ ancestor, former Ohio Gov. James M. Cox, who ran unsuccessfully for president in 1920 against Warren G. Harding before building his industrial empire.
The powerful conglomerate has grown to include Cox Communications, the nation’s third-largest cable company, and businesses such as Autotrader, Kelley Blue Book and Valpak.
The family estate built by Governor Cox was bequeathed to his two daughters, Barbara and Anne, Chambers’ grandmother.
Before Anne died aged 100 in January 2020, she distributed her shares to her three children, including James Cox Chambers, who reportedly owns a 17% stake in Cox Enterprises.

Chambers, who studied at the State University of St. Petersburg in Russia and has tattoos of Stalin and Mao, is a fan of the Soviet Union and Communist China but not the US.
“I am singularly opposed to every armed wing of the US empire,” Chambers told The Post. “It is an evil idea, killing, stealing, genocide and every element of it should be dismantled.”
