Following the tragic death of rapper Coolio last week, his longtime girlfriend Mimi Ivey has opened up about his funeral plans and revealed the rapper’s wishes.
As you know, the “Gangsta’s Paradise” artist died on September 28 at the age of 59 under mysterious circumstances and has been greatly missed.
Coolio Wants to Be Cremated, No Funeral Service
Mimi, who has been dating the late rapper for over a decade, spoke about her unique relationship with Coolio in an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail. The television personality spoke to the publication about her overwhelming grief as she revealed the instructions her late partner had left behind her death.

Mimi shared that the “Fantastic Voyage” rapper did not want a lavish funeral service. “I respect his wishes. He wants to be burned. He didn’t want a funeral; he didn’t want a memorial service. She doesn’t want all that,” the video vixen confessed.
The “Goals of Love” star did not provide further details about Coolio’s posthumous wishes or when he will be cremated. However, a source confirmed to the publication that there will be a cremation service to honor the legendary rapper.
The invitation to the intimate event is said to be so brief that many of Coolio’s old friends and acquaintances in the industry will not be attending. Insiders believe that the low-key nature of the service is to avoid any potential fights between Coolio’s mothers, mistresses or ex-babies.
The late Grammy winner is the proud father of 10 children from multiple women — with some of his baby mamas unknown. Coolio had four children with his first and only wife Josefa Salinas. He also welcomed his youngest child with his ex-girlfriend Annabella Chatman in 2009.
The rapper has no children with Mimi.
Coolio & Mimi Have A Unique Romance That Involves Infidelity
In the interview, Mimi sheds light on the close relationship she shares with the entertainer she calls her husband, even though they were never legally married. The reality star also took her last name. The 41-year-old described the late artist as his “best friend.”
“We are good friends. We would talk about everything and joke and laugh about everything. There was never a dull moment with him,” he explained. The mother of three who described Coolio as “eccentric” and a “storyteller” recalled the heartbreaking moment she learned the love of her life had passed.

In his words, “I just remember all the air and life leaving my body. I was outside, getting ready to take my son to soccer practice. All I remember is falling to my knees. I collapsed.”
Mimi and Coolio’s relationship dates back to 2004 when they first met, and the exotic dancer wasn’t feeling it. However, when they are re-introduced by a mutual friend seven years later, they can’t let go of each other.
The television personality remembers “West Up!” the persistent rapper dated him, never taking no for an answer. “I just woke up, and she was in my room making me breakfast in bed. I was kind of confused. It’s funny now, I love having that memory,” she explained. “She said, ‘You’re officially my girl. You are mine. You are mine. We are destined together. This is us.’ And I said, ‘Okay.'”
As for why they never got married, Mimi revealed that they were very close to finalizing the deed, even filling out all the paperwork in court. However, they did not continue.
“But we just decided not to hand it in. It’s just a piece of paper that doesn’t change how either of us feel about each other,” he said. Despite the close bond they share, Mimi and Coolio’s romance has often been plagued by cheating rumors — something the vixen doesn’t deny.
It seems that the couple who appeared on “Celebrity Wife Swap” are in an open relationship, as Mimi shared that she was very aware of Coolio having other women.
“He is who he is. If he is seeing other women, I know about it,” he said. “Nothing that man ever did he hid from me. We talk about everything. I know all his life. We have no secrets.”
Mimi Called Coolio the ‘Soul of the Soul’ in Appreciation of Love
Mimi first broke her silence on Coolio’s passing last week in a touching tribute on social media. As The Blast reports, the doting girlfriend shared a montage of beautiful photos set to her late boyfriend’s song “CU When U Get There.”
“Words cannot express the pain I feel right now,” she began her heartfelt message. “You are my soul mate, husband, lover & my best friend so glad you called me on FaceTime at 2am and woke me up to tell me you love me and miss me.”
Mimi mourns her man, saying she wouldn’t have let him off the phone if she’d known it would be their last conversation.
